All About The Family
Picture it, San Giovanni, Italy 1912, a poor immigrant man John Cincinnati left his lovely wife Mary Cincinnati and son Joseph Cincinnati to venture to a new country for a better life. He left his village, made two lefts and a right and boarded a boat in Naples. The ship, Venezia, left promptly for America with 1,880 passengers. They landed in America on Ellis Island. After John left the ship, he got right on a train, left New York heading south. The train stopped right in the middle of Montgomery, West Virginia, where he left the train, turned left and ended his journey right between two mountains in Handley, West Virginia.
Back in San Giovanni, Italy, John's wife, Mary with their son Joseph right by her side decided to leave their heritage, family, & friends & join her husband in West Virginia. Mary & Joe left their village by train & went to France. From France they got right on a boat for a America.
After joining her husband right between two mountains in Handley, West Virginia. They bore two lovely girls, Elizabeth and Sara.
The Cincinnati family traveled right up the road to Boomer landing at Boomer Hollow, which is a left off the old Midland Trail. Brothers, Ernest and Albert were born right there in the hollow. In July 1927 baby Virginia made her appearance right behind her two older brothers.
The Cincinnati family left Boomer and made two lefts and a right and landed in Washington, PA. They stayed right there for two years and traveled right back to the Kanawha Valley to Harewood, almost right back were they started from two years prior. John, Mary and their children stayed in Harewood until John's death in 1933.
It should be noted for all our family right here today that John's funeral was the first funeral in the new church in Boomer. This church was later turned into the Lenton Auditorium right after a new stone church, St. Anthony's, was built. Also, we should know that only two of his children, Joe & Elizabeth, were able to attend his funeral because they had a pair of shoes to wear. Mary remained right in Harewood until her death in 1966.
This is the story of how the Cincinnati's came to be right here in the Kanawha Valley after, of course, making two lefts and a right.
